". . .That we were the first to introduce American readers to Ferran Adrià in 1997 and have ever since continued to bring you a blow-by-blow narrative of Spain's riveting ferment is chiefly due to our Spanish correspondent, Gerry "Mr. Spain" Dawes, the messianic wine and food journalist raised in Southern Illinois and possessor of a self-accumulated doctorate in the Spanish table. Gerry once again brings us up to the very minute. . ." - - Michael & Ariane Batterberry, Editor-in-Chief/Publisher and Founding Editor/Publisher, Food Arts, October 2009.

ReplyDeleteGerry,
Sorry? Since when has the nay been called goats? Them fighting words! Am I missing the point here? I will go with it. GREAT! AWSOME! They can still win at games! Horray!
G, That's all find and dandy, but why cant the army, navy and air force not win at wars anymore? Why cant they find Bin Landen after 10 years? I will make you a bet they couldn't find Waldo on the back of the fucking cereal box if you gave them a crayon! More importantly, I thought you were living in Spain? Why the hell are you watching American sports when they have football over there, the one where the rest of the world watches?
Gerry, I always thought one of the benefits of living in a foreign country for a long time is to emotionally detach yourself from all your local teams. Try it, its wonderful. You will find that they don't ruin your day anymore when they get thrashed because you don't care anymore! It's also gives a little glimpse of what it must feel like to live with Alzheimer's. After 5- 10 year absence of watching your team, you watch the opponent hit the winning home run, or intercepts your final drive, or scores the winning touch down, and some how you thought he played for your team, but somehow he plays for the other team.
Screw all that sport stuff and give me the recipe for a great stuffed squid in black ink, I love that stuff! Also let me know when you want to come Asia.
